Marta Bożyk was born in 1973 in Cracow. She was studying in the Faculty of Graphic Art at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Her diploma work made in the Studio of Woodcut led by Professor Zbigniew Lutomski in 1998 received the Rector’s Medal. In 1999 she completed studies at Studium Pedagogiczne (Pedagogical Studies) in Poznań. Since then she has been working as assistant at the Woodcut Studio in Cracow’s ASP. In 2013 she received the doctorate in Fine Arts. Her fields of artistic activities are: graphics, drawing, painting, stained-glass design, she also leads international art workshops and lectures, curates exhibitions. She is the member of SMTG, APAP and a women’s art group “Grupa13”. She presented more than 15 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 70 group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. In 2000 she received the City of Cracow Scholarship for Artists, in 2001 “Artist in Residence” scholarship of the City of Mino (Japan), in 2007 a scholarship of the Regional Print Center in Wrexham (UK). In 2000 she was awarded the 2nd Prize at Confrontations of the Youngest Artists from Cracow held in Myślenice, in 2002 the private award funded by a famous Polish artist Professor Kraupe-Świderska, in 2008 Technical Award at International Print Biennial in Taichung (Taiwan), in 2009 Equal Prize at the International Print Triennial of Graphic Art, Bitola (Macedonia), in 2011 was awarded the medal of the Union of Polish Artists ZPAP for the work “Odpoczywajacy” (Resting) at the exhibition ”The 100th Anniversary of ZPAP” Cracow, in 2011 Purchase Prize at the 16th Space International Print Biennial, OCI Museum of Art (Korea).
